The Faculty of Nursing at the Applied Sciences Private University offers a baccalaureate degree 4-year program in nursing. The student has to complete 135 credit hours, of these 24 credit hours are university requirements (i.e. 15 credit hours are obligatory and 9 hours are electives). The non-nursing credit are 25 credit hours, nursing credits are 83 credit hours (i.e. 79 obligatory and 4 electives for the specialization), and 3 credit hours for a free course.
The program has eight terms over four academic years each term/ semester covers 16 weeks. After completing the baccalaureate program the student is qualified to enroll in higher postgraduate studies and/or work in the local, regional and international market.
Students with a nursing two-year diploma with a higher than 68% in comprehensive exam, and would like to pursue to get a baccalaureate’s degree, they can apply for admission to the university baccalaureate program for bridging directly. A maximum 50% of their study plan credits in two-year diploma can be transferred into the baccalaureate program (i.e. 67 credit hours). In case of a student with a nursing two-year diploma with a grade less than 68% in comprehensive exam or has two-year diploma in paramedics with a grade higher than 68% in comprehensive exam, only 30 credit hours will be transferred for bridging to the baccalaureate program.
This department provides courses that assist the students to apply nursing skills to individuals, families and communities. It focuses on improving the health of individuals and families within the framework of nursing process at place of residence, work sites and different community settings.
The students usually learn the communication skills and understand the cultural, economic and environmental issues that affect the health of the community. A comprehensive care is applied to different groups in the community including elderly,mental health and populations with special needs.
This department deals with the courses that include practical applications of the pregnant mother in the different stages of pregnancy, as well as nursing care for a newborn and children at different stages of growth. The students apply the different roles of parent and family education regarding methods of contraception and how to care for newborns. The students learn methods of disease prevention and high risk child & mother as well as considering physical, psychological and social status to provide comprehensive care.
